You remember SHEawase?

Do you remember when I talked about this new pop group in this May blog entry? I have some new updates about the group's activities. Melissa, Tara, Morgan, and Kristy released their debut single "Muju Ryoku Boy, Ranhansha Girl" on September 14, 2012. The video posted above is the official preview for the music video. The music video features a violinist and beautiful costumes created lovingly by the girls. There is also some really fun vocals and a great energetic dance I think I want to try out soon! Recently, the girls displayed these very same PV outfits at RuroniKon at their booth.

Speaking of RuroniKon, SHEawase's debut song was performed there for the first time on September 15, 2012, to coincide with the release of their single.

Tara's costume concert on display at their official booth at RuroniKon.

The girls in their costumes for their big stage performance.

The digital single was released via Amazon and iTunes. The iTunes price is $2.97 for the single or $0.99 per song. I am not sure about the price at Amazon since I could not find a link for purchasing a copy there. Physical copies of the single are available to order through their official website at a price of $10.00 before shipping fees are included.

Top: Melissa, Tara
Bottom: Kristy, Morgan

This is the official front cover for the single as posted on their Facebook account. Lyrics are the single can be found here and you can follow along to see which girl sings at which part. Follow any of the links below to keep up to date on the progress of this group and I will post when I get their CD in the mail!

Be My Baby - It's a Wrap!

We finished filming the final scene for "Be My Baby" on Wednesday night at a high school auditorium. The final scene included Brittani, April, Destiny, and Victoria. This shot was taken from a crane that was rigged for an earlier film project by one of Brittani's friends. It was a lot of fun to shoot and it was equally as thrilling wrapping up the filming when we found out that the parking lot was being locked. We had to make a mad dash to save ourselves from being locked in for the night.

Be My Baby Music Video Release

You waited for our next music video and here it is fresh from the presses! The music video follows the story of Miss Hom Nom, a record company intern, that is given the challenge of putting together a girl group in two weeks by her evil boss, Mr. Schleam. Miss Hom Nom rises to the challenge when she confronts three mismatched girls: a hood girl, a geek, and a pampered shopper and turns them into a successful girl group.

A lot of work went into this and we want to give a special thank you to Brittani for editing and filming this ambitious project for us along with Destiny as your co-editor. Also, Victoria is a fabulous member of our team that choreographs the dances and is a hardcore gangstah with a lot of talent to show for it. This could never have been completed without you guys. This was a lot of fun and such a great send-off present to Destiny as a final hurrah for summer as well!

Dez-Air has released their first album after their debut on YouTube as an all-girl group in May of 2010. Dez-Air celebrates their third year anniversary in September of 2012 and this album is released in anticipation of that event. This album includes songs from Dez-Air's first four singles: Nobody, 2 Different Tears, Magic Girl, and Shy Boy. The title track for this release also has a music video to accompany it and the music video will be released in the middle of August if everything goes as planned. Be My Baby was filmed with a more professional camera compared to our last three music videos and is more on par with our music video for Nobody.

----------

Destiny will be leaving in the middle of August to head back to her internship at Disney World until May of 2013. This release in collaboration with the music video is to celebrate this event. This release features all past and present members of Dez-Air. There are special duet tracks between either April and Destiny or April and Victoria. Check back at our YouTube channel for the music video and be on the look out for performances at local venues that we have planned. We might be coming to a con near you.

April and Destiny Night on the Town!

Destiny and April saw Arizona Broadway Theatre’s closing performance of Grease on July 15, 2012. April knows almost all the songs of Grease by heart because she played Sandy in her high school’s production of the show her senior year. There were actually a few new songs in this version that both of the girls had never heard before. The production was a lot of fun and a personal favorite was Justin Jutras who played the role of Kenickie.

Victoria & Silly Make-Up Moments

Victoria loves to goof around before her scenes are recorded. Destiny applied part of her make-up. Isn’t it flawless?

Please Be My Baby?

Dez-Air is back and we were filming our first scene all together for our latest music video tonight. It was a lot of fun and we all got to be really girly for this scene. You also get to see Brittani in front of the camera as a recording studio intern. The music video should be coming out in the middle of August.

Music Video Progress

We finished filming several scenes this week for our new music video covering the Wonder Girls’ song “Be My Baby.” It has a story line we have never used in any of our music videos. Filming is done primarily by Brittani and music was mixed by Michelle. Dez-Air members in this video are: April, Destiny, and Victoria. This will be Destiny’s last music video with the group for a while as she goes back to Florida for her internship with Disney World.

"Be My Baby" Concept Photo

Victoria poses as a gangster, April takes on the role of a nerd, and Destiny is a vallery girl for the concept of our newest music video, “Be My Baby.” This music video will be released in the beginning or middle of August before Destiny leaves for Florida for her internship.

"Be My Baby" Photoshoot - Fun with GIFs

Created by Brittani and Destiny.  Here is a sneak peak at the “Be My Baby” music video photo shoot!  We had fun making gifs.

Member Name Changes

Dez-Air is now prepared to use our real first names to connect with our fans on a more personal level. This change is also to reflect our growing up as a group and our aspiration to distinguish ourselves as individuals in the music world. I will be changing our group pages on our social media sites to reflect this decision and you guys should expect to see a new music video by us in the month of July or August. Thank you for understanding our decision and continue to follow us for developments and performance events.

Member Name Changes:
Eri as APRIL
Krissy as DESTINY
Elizabeth as VICTORIA

Happy! Project Transformation to SHEawase

Happy! Project is a Japanese pop girl group based in Texas that was formed in 2006 by Melissa and Kristy. The group started off performing dance covers and eventually singing live to songs primarily by the groups under Hello! Project, a Japanese umbrella group that houses artists such as Berryz Koubou, Morning Musume, C-ute, S/mileage, and Mano Erina. Happy! Project has performed at various conventions around the United States and hosted their first full length concert in 2010.

The girls recorded their own original songs with Black Lamp Media in the summer of 2011 for their first original single entitled "Muju Ryoku Boy, Ranhansha Girl." The single was produced by Dano Black and the girls are already working on recording their second single. The first single is in the process of being released.

In the video above, Happy! Project performs a cover of Berryz Koubou's song "Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda" at an anime convention in the middle of 2011. This is a dance cover of the song and, even though there is no singing in this video, the girls are very energetic in their performance. The moves are in sync and Happy! Project is very expressive in their execution of the dance onstage. Their moves are very concise and well rehearsed.

On May 26, 2012, Happy! Project members Kristy, Melissa, Morgan, and Tara announced that the group would be undergoing a name change. With the release of their debut single, Happy! Project wants to "become their own artist and break into their own image." This move is to help the group market themselves both in Japan and the United States to stand apart from the competition and forge their own way as an original singing group. Happy! Project will now be known as SHEawase with Shiawase meaning happiness in Japanese and the spelling of she in the name to mean girls. Awase means together so the complete meaning of the name captures the goal of the group to have girls coming together making music and spreading their own message to both Japan and the United States through song.

There are many exciting possibilities for SHEawase in the future by marketing in both the United States and Japan. Their passion for music and bubbly personalities gives them a great advantage in gaining a foothold in Japan. I wish them great success in the future and I will be sure to listen to their single when it is released.

Below is the links to the group's new website, Twitter, and YouTube channel. Be sure to check out their YouTube channel for a preview of their music video for their debut single and don't forget to subscribe as well! I have also listed their P. O. Box as well as another way to contact this very energetic and happy pop group.

Dez-Air - Shy Boy Single Release

Title: Shy Boy
Release Type: 4th Single
Group: Dez-Air
Singers: April, Destiny, & Victoria
Release date: April 20, 2012
Mixer: Victoria
Cover Art By: Suki-chan

Tracklist:

02. So Hot - April, Destiny, & Victoria

Lyrics: DOC Version // HTML Version

Dez-Air has expanded in performing at local venues for an anime convention, retirement home, The Lyceum, and school events. A majority of the performances have featured all three members of the group with a mix of new and old songs. This single goes back to covering Secret and Wonder Girls with an exploration of both an innocent sound in the first track and a sassy approach to So Hot. Recently, Dez-Air was featured in a short film collaboration between Destiny and Brittani entitled Sub-Reality. This project was a major focus for the group from January to May with the Taiyou Con and Lyceum performance in between this period.

----------

2012 has brought back Dez-Air into the release scene with our fourth single. There will be no music videos for this single due to the group's involvement in the short film project which should be uploaded on Brittani's vimeo account or the Dez-Air channel in mid to late May. Vocals for the first song began in early 2011 and were completed in mid 2011. So Hot was recorded and edited within a day in 2011. Check back at our YouTube channel for new uploads and be on the lookout for our summer music video as well! You do not want to miss that!

Victoria on the Set of Sub-Reality

Victoria talks behind the scenes of "Sub-Reality" about her role in the film and what you can expect from the final product in May on our YouTube channel. What do you think the short film will be about?

Destiny and Brittani's Sub-Reality Trailer

Sub-Reality Trailer

Preview of Destiny’s project for her the completion of her Bachelors degree in collaboration with Brittani, video editor of 2 Different Tears and Oh Honey! Their showcase is April 19, 2012 @ 6:00 PM and Dez-Air members: April and Victoria are featured in the video. Victoria also plays the role of Alleah’s dancer self during some scenes of the video. Destiny is Alleah, the major character that explores the realms of dreams and discovers that she has control over her own destiny. The project is entitled “Sub-Reality” and it will be uploaded onto either the Dez-Air channel or a related account and posted on this blog toward the end of May.

Victoria's First Ballroom Competition

My first ballroom competition!! It was so much fun!! My partner and I placed third in American Bronze Tango! Not too shabby for my first comp ;) All together we competed in American in both Bronze and Silver Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, and East Coast Swing. I was so incredibly nervous when we first went out on the floor but after a little bit I finally loosened up and started having a lot of fun with it! The only down side to the day was the insane amount fo band-aids I had to wear over my blisters (I just got my shoes on Tuesday so I’m in the painful process of breaking them in), by the end of the day I had five large band-aids plastered all over my heels. Yeah, it got pretty hard to walk around like a normal person after a while :P But all around it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait for the next comp!

Tons of love!

Shy Boy Cover!

Dez-Air returns with the title track of their fourth single, Shy Boy. The line-up for this single features April, Destiny, and Victoria. Shy Boy is originally by Secret with English lyrics by Ren. Please enjoy!

This dub is dedicated to Ren for making awesome vocal covers and being such an inspiration with her soulful music lyrics. This one is for you girl!

Ren's Version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BF7PSmA0B4&feature=channel_video_title

April & Destiny - Disney Mash Up!

Dez-Air’s special collaboration track between April and Destiny combining several different Disney songs into one. The songs in this mash up are: Second Star to the Right with Someday My Prince Will Come, Just Around the Riverbend, When You Wish Upon a Star, A Whole New World, and a Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. This was a little dub the girls recorded after they finished Starlight Moonlight. Think of this as a special Christmas present two days late.

Victoria & Destiny @ Masquerade Ball

Last year, Destiny and Victoria went to a Masquerade Ball. I thought by starting 2012 off right, we could see some adventures the girls had last year and prepare for an even more exciting year ahead! Victoria’s dress was big enough to hold a person under it. She knows this because she has done this before! <3

Taiyou Con Performance Footage - January 6, 2012

Dez-Air’s April and Victoria performed at Taiyou Con 2012 in Mesa on January 6, 2012. Their performance was in the Kiva A room and this was both girls first time at an anime convention. Let alone, hosting their first panel.

Two CDs were given away at the event via raffle tickets April had purchased earlier at Walmart with a friend. April and Victoria passed out tickets to con guests to see if they were interested in going to their show if there were prizes as an incentive. The CDs were Morning Musume’s Resonant Blue and the Wonder Girls’ So Hot, both in their respective languages.

The setlist for the event showcased each girls’ talent in at least one song. The full setlist is below:

01. Magic Girl - April & Victoria

02. Nobody - April & Victoria

03. 2 Different Tears - April & Victoria

04. Be My Baby Dance Lesson - Taught by Victoria with help by April

05. Be My Baby Dance - Victoria feat. April

06. Love Machine - April feat. Victoria

07. Ma Boy - April & Victoria

08. The Boys - April & Victoria

The show went very well and some of the audience was dancing along to Love Machine. The audience seemed to really enjoy learning the dance to Be My Baby from Victoria after a few brave souls started to learn the dance. The panel ended five minutes earlier than expected, but it was a blast and the girls hope to return next year.

The staff was very helpful and supportive. They were very professional and made sure that everything was set up correctly for the performance. That was a very personable and well thought thing to be especially in such a busy con. Videos for the performances are above this post and we hope you enjoy! <3

The Dj is Mine Preview

Dez-Air’s April and Victoria are collaborating with a singer we met at the talent show we did back in October of last year on a cover of “The Dj is mine.” What do you guys think of the preview?

Victoria's Thoughts

Thoughts of Victoria: April is coming to pick me up in less than 10 minutes so her, Destiny, and I can hang out... I should probably get dressed in normal people clothes...

Behind the Scenes from Sub-Reality!

On the set of Destiny’s short film integrated play piece entitled Sub-Reality. This project is a collaboration between Dez-Air Sub-Leader Destiny and Video Editor for “2 Different Tears” and “Oh Honey!”, Brittani. The artistic piece is based on the definitions between the subconcious and concious levels of the individual during an ordinary day. There will be dreamlike sequences and silhouette dancing provided by none other than our own choreographer Victoria. Victoria and April also share a minor stage role in this integrated work. Destiny is the main actress for this production. The final project should be uploaded on our channel in late April or early May.

Arizona Broadway Theater Review

I recently saw Singing in the Rain at Arizona Broadway Theater this Friday. The performance was outstanding and there was a lot of talent on that stage. The actor who played Don Lockwood had such an amazing vibrato and was able to keep up with all of the tireless dancing he performed in his many numbers especially with Cosmo Brown. The chemistry between the three leads was contagious and fit the mood of the original 1952 picture with Gene Kelly, Donald O’Conner, and Debbie Reynolds.

I thought that all of the actors had very appropriate voices for the time period with just a slight operatic training behind their upbeat tunes. The chorus did not appear many time throughout the show, but when they did it was always a lot of great fun and they had such great flexibility. The supporting characters stole the show at points and made the entertainment of the evening even more enjoyable.

The staff that waited on all of the tables was fantastic and were very attentive to their customers’ needs. I am definently going back to see Sunset Boulevard if I get the chance. Arizona Broadway Theater is a much see venue for great performances and excellent customer service. Also, some nights there is a cabaret style show after the performance where the audience can see the cast perform songs on a more intimate basis.

- April

Behind the Scenes from Sub-Reality!

Another shot from the set of Sub-Reality, Destiny’s integrated short film and performance piece. This time Destiny is shooting a scene riding a horse in the style of a Roman goddess. The full version of the short film will be uploaded onto our YouTube channel in late April or early May.

Starlight Moonlight Duet Finished!

April and Destiny finally finished recording Starlight Moonlight. English lyrics are by Ren (WorldWideMusicMiss). Better late than never I always say.

Christmas Performance at Retirement Home

On December 23rd, Dez-Air had their first Christmas performance at a retirement home. The girls sang with another singer on well-known Christmas songs karaoke style. Victoria even added in a few kicks to shake up the event. The girls also performed five songs on their own: All I Want for Christmas is You, Shy Boy, Last Christmas, Starlight Moonlight, and Shy Boy.

No video was taken at the event, but we have taken some photographs with April and Victoria’s Ipod Touch. The girls hope to be invited back and Victoria and April are getting ready for their performance at Taiyou Con on January 6th.
